Oratorio Double Halo Cushion Amethyst Earrings

These beautiful February birthstones are accentuated with a halo of simulated diamonds. The amethyst gemstone has long been associated with royalty but few know its history with Roman mythology. According to myth, the goddess Diana turned a maiden named Amethyst to stone in an effort to save her from being consumed by tigers. The god Bacchus then stained her body purple by pouring wine over her form. The Greek word amethystos, meaning “not drunken”, is what lead the belief that drinking wine from an amethyst cup would prevent intoxication.
